Overview
Mountain View is the largest of Bend's 13 neighborhood districts by area, covering about 2.9 square miles in the northeast quadrant. It sits east of US-97, with NE 27th Street along its western edge, NE Purcell Boulevard to the east, NE Butler Market Road to the north, and US Highway 20 to the south. The Pilot Butte Canal and North Unit Main Canal run through the district, and Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint sits at its western margin.
Housing is predominantly single-family homes built between the 1970s and early 2000s, with later infill adding apartments, townhomes, and senior housing, reflecting Bend's eastside growth through the 1980s and 1990s. St. Charles Bend, a 292-bed regional medical center at 2500 NE Neff Road, anchors the area's health-care identity and is its largest employer. The Forum Shopping Center at NE Highway 20 and 27th Street brings Costco, Safeway, Whole Foods, and national retailers within a short drive.
The Mountain View Neighborhood Association, established in 2003, describes the area as one of the fastest-growing parts of the city. The district holds four Bend Park and Recreation parks, direct access to the 159-acre Pine Nursery Park, and its namesake feeder high school, Mountain View Senior High, on NE 27th Street.
